Today, I want to share an exciting development in my content creation journey as I dive into the realm of vlogging. Join me as I take you through the events of a day filled with unexpected twists and turns, all while pursuing my passion for creating engaging and meaningful content.
A Partnership with 1701 Bespoke: Opening Doors to Opportunity
The heart of this vlog lies in my collaboration with 1701 Bespoke, a local tailor in the vibrant city of Detroit. Fueled by a desire to offer authentic and engaging content to my audience, I reached out to Max (the owner) with a proposal. Initially seeking a sponsored video for my upcoming wedding, I eagerly pitched the idea of mutual exposure through my TikTok and YouTube platforms. To my delight, 1701 Bespoke embraced the opportunity, setting the stage for an extraordinary partnership. We decided to do a custom white shirt for my wedding in exchange for a video on my platforms.
Venturing into Entrepreneurship: Building Bridges, Nurturing Growth
During my conversations with the tailor, it became evident that there was more to our connection than a simple collaboration. As a young and ambitious content creator, I discovered an opportunity to help him enhance his social media presence. Because I had grown a following and was such a big fan of what he did, I thought I might be able to use both of those things to help him grow a channel of his own. I planned on asking him upon my second visit to the loft but before I could he actually asked me, effectively propelling me into the realm of entrepreneurship. So, with very little understanding of the business world, I set to do what a business has to do to get started, or at least what I thought it needed to do to get started.
Navigating Challenges, Savoring Triumphs: A Day in the Life
For the most part, this blog is me talking through the struggles was getting this going. I talked about how I had to try and set up a business account, an invoicing system, write up contracts, and more just to start the first day. With that came the terrifying onset of day 1: actually shooting the content for him. I had to go in with a plan, trust that I had made a good one, and execute it to the best of my abilities.
Side note: I understand this part will be scary for anyone just starting out which is why I made this video to express my feelings before and after the shoot. As long as you trust your abilities, stay confident, and go in with more ideas than you think you need, you should be good.
Celebrating the Journey
While I don't know for sure if Social Media Management is what I want to do for the rest of my life, this first day certainly taught me a lot about myself. It was truly a euphoric feeling walking out of this meeting. Knowing that I was getting paid to do a service that I actually enjoyed, I didn't need to confirm my work to anyone but my client, and there was so much to improve upon, was just really exciting.
No, this isn't for everyone, but the point is that you never know until you try. You can't go out and expect opportunities to just hit you in the face while you're working your 9 to 5 job (8 to 6 nowadays). You have to create opportunities for yourself.
