An ongoing investigation. How does one truly find the PERFECT T-shirt? Of course there is always going to be a preference aspect to the search. Some people may prefer a streetwear fit over a traditional menswear fit. Some may be looking for 100% cotton while others like something with a bit more durability. Some want their perfect t-shirt to be at a certain price point where others just want the best product available. All of these things must be considered when finding the one true perfect t-shirt and I realized that mine will not be the same as yours so I made a spread sheet to help you out. How to Find The Perfect T-Shirt I try to consider as many of these things as possible when doing my Search for the Perfect T-Shirt reviews, but at the end of the day I am just one man. All I can really do is provide my personal opinion and then move on, right? Or perhaps, I could give you my opinion, with the style, price, and fit of a shirt alongside all of its competitiors that I have tried. I decided that instead of just giving my original review of a t-shirt and putting it in a playlist on my TikTok page, I could instead create a running list of all the shirts I review that can be filtered and sorted so each of my viewers could easily find the best shirt for them. Only like Menswear shirts? Easy. Need something with 100% cotton? You got it. Refuse to even look at a shirt if it is over $30? No problem at all. You can use this list to help you find the best possible shirt for yourself, whatever that may be. I truly hope this helps at least one person find exactly what they are looking for. These reviews have been done over several years so I cannot guarentee that the scale for which they were judged are exactly the same, but I will say my greatest factors are and always have been, quality (feel) and fit, which while still subjective, are obvious to most. I also considered including the measurements of each T but I realized that would only be specific to the size that I happened to buy. Today, it's a fashion staple that can be dressed up or down, a canvas for personal expression, and a crucial element in both streetwear and high fashion. Understanding this history adds another layer to our appreciation of the simple T-shirt. I am sure 50 years ago, the thought of spending $100 on a 2-pack of white t-shirts would sound insane (to some it still does) but as style changes people have prioritized different things. For myself, I would rather have less clothing but know that what I have is great. Fabric Types and Their Impact Different fabrics can drastically change the feel and functionality of a T-shirt. While 100% cotton is a favorite for its breathability and softness, it's not always the most durable. Cotton blends, incorporating materials like polyester or spandex, can offer a mix of comfort and resilience. Polyester, on its own, provides excellent durability and moisture-wicking properties but might not be as comfortable for those who prioritize softness. Each material has its pros and cons, and understanding these can help you make a more informed choice. This is why I added the '100% Cotton' column. If you feel it would be more beneficial to have more details here please feel free to let me know, but I thought this was a good start. Sizing and Fit Guide Navigating sizes can be a nightmare, especially with the variation across different brands. I normally try to ask the brands I work with (if I can make contact) what size they recommend before I order. I always recommend checking the sizing charts provided by the manufacturer and, if possible, reading customer reviews about fit. I like to measure whatever t-shirt I own that fits me best to use as a guide when looking at new shirts. If you'd like an idea of how I do this I can certainly work on that. Brand Comparisons In my quest for the perfect T-shirt, I've encountered a myriad of brands, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. High-end t-shirts like the Whitesville T offer luxury with a price tag to match, while more affordable options like Uniqlo provide great value without compromising too much on quality. Streetwear brands like Shaka Wear and Pro Club offer a unique fit and style that some prefer over a classic menswear fit. Use my videos as a guide to see what style you may like best and go from there. I found that I really like workwear style shirts like the Iron & Resin "Million Mile T" which I was not expecting. Care Instructions for Longevity Whenever you do find the "perfect t-shirt" for you, make sure you take care of it. Just becuase a shirt can be thrown in the dryer doesn't mean it should be. There are some shirts I have no problem throwing in the dryer after a wash like the Kirkland White T or the Goodfellow T from Target, but that is not always the case. Even some more affordable shirts like the Uniqlo Airism may be O.K. to dry but I probably wouldn't myself. I was thrilled about this choice because not only is it highly recommended, but it's also one of the most affordable options I've explored so far. Let's dive right in and see how this t-shirt stacks up! First Impressions and Fit Upon receiving the Shaka Wear Heavyweight T-Shirt, my initial impression was positive. The fabric is a hundred percent cotton, providing a comfortable and breathable feel. It's reminiscent of a cotton version of the Airism Tee from Uniqlo, which is known for its softness. I opted for a size large, and overall, the fit was good. However, I did notice some slight billowing at the stitching points, which could be improved. Quality and Value While the Shaka Wear Heavyweight T-Shirt may not be the softest option out there, it exceeds expectations when it comes to quality and value. The Verdict: A Great Streetwear Tee After careful consideration, I give the Shaka Wear Heavyweight T-Shirt a rating of 8.6. While it may not be perfect, it's undoubtedly one of the best streetwear tees I've tried so far, especially considering its affordability. A Partnership with 1701 Bespoke: Opening Doors to Opportunity The heart of this vlog lies in my collaboration with 1701 Bespoke, a local tailor in the vibrant city of Detroit. Fueled by a desire to offer authentic and engaging content to my audience, I reached out to Max (the owner) with a proposal. Initially seeking a sponsored video for my upcoming wedding, I eagerly pitched the idea of mutual exposure through my TikTok and YouTube platforms. To my delight, 1701 Bespoke embraced the opportunity, setting the stage for an extraordinary partnership. We decided to do a custom white shirt for my wedding in exchange for a video on my platforms. Venturing into Entrepreneurship: Building Bridges, Nurturing Growth During my conversations with the tailor, it became evident that there was more to our connection than a simple collaboration. As a young and ambitious content creator, I discovered an opportunity to help him enhance his social media presence. Because I had grown a following and was such a big fan of what he did, I thought I might be able to use both of those things to help him grow a channel of his own. I planned on asking him upon my second visit to the loft but before I could he actually asked me, effectively propelling me into the realm of entrepreneurship. So, with very little understanding of the business world, I set to do what a business has to do to get started, or at least what I thought it needed to do to get started. Navigating Challenges, Savoring Triumphs: A Day in the Life For the most part, this blog is me talking through the struggles was getting this going. I talked about how I had to try and set up a business account, an invoicing system, write up contracts, and more just to start the first day. With that came the terrifying onset of day 1: actually shooting the content for him. I had to go in with a plan, trust that I had made a good one, and execute it to the best of my abilities. Side note: I understand this part will be scary for anyone just starting out which is why I made this video to express my feelings before and after the shoot. As long as you trust your abilities, stay confident, and go in with more ideas than you think you need, you should be good. Celebrating the Journey While I don't know for sure if Social Media Management is what I want to do for the rest of my life, this first day certainly taught me a lot about myself. It was truly a euphoric feeling walking out of this meeting. Knowing that I was getting paid to do a service that I actually enjoyed, I didn't need to confirm my work to anyone but my client, and there was so much to improve upon, was just really exciting. No, this isn't for everyone, but the point is that you never know until you try. You can't go out and expect opportunities to just hit you in the face while you're working your 9 to 5 job (8 to 6 nowadays). You have to create opportunities for yourself. The search for the perfect t-shirt continues, and this time we turn our attention to the Goodfellow t-shirt from Target. Priced at an affordable six dollars, it caught my attention as an option worth exploring. In this blog post, we'll dive into my firsthand experience with this budget-friendly t-shirt, assessing its materials, fit, overall feel, and of course, it's unbeatable price point. Unveiling the Goodfellow T-Shirt: Right off the bat, I opted for the classic all-white Goodfellow t-shirt from Target. Upon wearing it, the first thing that caught my attention was its thinness. While it contributed to a certain level of comfort, it also made the shirt slightly see-through, revealing even the slightest details like my chain. Nevertheless, I took note of the perfect length of the sleeves and an acceptable neckline. Assessing Materials, Fit, and Overall Feel: In evaluating the Goodfellow t-shirt, I based my judgment on three key factors: materials, fit, and overall feel. Unfortunately, the materials didn't impress me. They didn't have the same quality and durability as some of the other T-shirts I've tried. Additionally, the fit left something to be desired. There was a noticeable tightness around the upper body, especially when I raised my arms, which felt somewhat awkward. The Price Factor: Where the Goodfellow t-shirt truly shines is in its price tag. At a mere six dollars, it's hard to find fault with such affordability, especially in today's market. For those on a tight budget or looking for a basic t-shirt, this is undeniably a selling point. Its value for money is commendable. Final Verdict: After careful consideration of the materials, fit, overall feel, and price, I'm giving the Goodfellow t-shirt a rating of 6.1 out of 10. While it doesn't meet all my expectations, I appreciate its affordability and the availability of options at such a reasonable price. As a fashion enthusiast, I've always been on the search for the perfect t-shirt, and I was thrilled when I discovered Huckberry's line of high-quality t-shirts. The Forty-Five T-shirt was the first item I received from the brand, and I was incredibly excited to try it out. I opted for a tall size in the Almond colorway, and as soon as I put it on, I knew it was going to be a favorite. Forty-Five Supima Tee The first thing I noticed about the Forty-Five Tee was how lightweight and comfortable it was. Even though it was a slim fit, it didn't feel too tight or restrictive. I was also impressed with the quality of the neckline. I had been worried that the thin-looking neckline might be prone to stretching or tearing, but it turned out to be strong and resilient. I decided to give the Forty-Five Tee a rating of 8.3 out of 10. It's easily one of the most comfortable and best-fitting t-shirts I've ever tried, and the almond colorway was a great addition to my wardrobe. 72-Hour Tee Next up was the Huckberry 72-Hour Tee. This time, I opted for a large in the Wild Dove colorway since they didn't have tall sizes available. Unlike the Forty-Five Tee, the 72-Hour Tee isn't made entirely of cotton. It's a blend of polyester, TENCEL lyocell, and spandex, which makes it incredibly comfortable and dependable in any situation. While I appreciated the quality and comfort of the 72-Hour Tee, I did have one reservation: the price. At $88, it's definitely on the pricier side for a t-shirt. This is in contrast to the Forty-Five Tee, which is only $35. While I don't think the 72-Hour Tee is necessarily overpriced for the quality, I do think it would be more appealing if it were a bit more affordable. Because of this, I gave it a rating of 7.8 out of 10. Overall, I'm incredibly impressed with Huckberry's line of t-shirts. They're easily some of the best-fitting and best-quality t-shirts I've ever tried, and I love that the brand offers a range of colors and sizes. If you're looking for a high-quality t-shirt that's both comfortable and stylish, I highly recommend checking out the Huckberry Forty-Five Tee and the 72-Hour Tee.
